I've been struggling with maintaining my compassion for the super rich - even those who seem to otherwise be what I would consider "good people." This soothed my soul and brought me back to Jesus as my center. Thank you.
This was excellent, thank you. I cried. I appreciate the prayer— it feels like a good koan to recite daily.
But I think there’s something to be said for the classic interpretation, and clinging to wealth or material security prevents us from truly living because of the fear of loss. Loss and change are inevitable and the more we can accept this, the more we are free to love without limiting ourselves for the fear of our own broken hearts.
Thank you for all you do. Your work is so important. Thank you.
My mind is blown—I was definitely told about the imaginary “eye of the needle” gate, and I always found that so disheartening, as it definitely is weaponized to excuse hoarding wealth. I’m simultaneously pissed about the lie, but relieved about the fact that it isn’t true! Thanks so much for sharing.
When I see the people with multiple homes, especially ones that sit empty most of the time I am glad there are people like Rick Steves, the travel guy on PBS who quietly does things for people.
Beautiful piece per usual Brian. I’m sure you’ve also had conservative Christians talk about tHe TrAnSlAtIoN and how it wasn’t a camel or a needle it was something that COULD fit—just hard to do so… or some other ‘dig head in sand’ mentality… keep up the good work my friend.

True. And Moses did stutter.
Thank you, so well said!

Such a good read. Thank you for sharing!
Fascinating. You point out the plainness of these words, but overlook Jesus’ teaching on judgement.
Incredible piece
