This is something that I definitely needed to hear today. Thanks for sharing. Also, part of this reminded me of a situation I encountered years ago. My youngest child was diagnosed with a serious condition in the womb and my wife and I had to travel to Florida to for the birth to get specialty care. While there, my wife's pastor connected us with a local Lutheran Church (My wife is Lutheran and now deconstructing, I am Catholic). We met another young couple there with two young children who became friends and invited us into their home several times. During one visit, they were talking about some friends of theirs who were a lesbian couple. We said they sounded nice and maybe they could join us for our next dinner together. The response we got was surprising. "Oh, we never invite them over. We don't want our children to see them and get confused." That's when I learned how shallow some people's acceptance can be.
